Senate Estimates piled on the Creative Australia's Vennice Biennale shitshow. I am sure other things happened this week but that took most of my attention.
Hello from Changi Airport Singapore! It’s a short round-up this week. Partly because I have been attending RightsCon for most of the week so I haven’t had much time to read and write, but also because the Creative Australia Venice Biennale saga totally dominated arts news through the week and I am en route back to Australia. Everything revealed by Adrian Collette at the Senate Estimates hearing left me wondering WTF now?!, and it seems I am not the only one.
What's been going on?
Here’s WTF happened this week:
Creative Australia's Senate Estimates evidence was very telling
Senate Estimates revealed much about Creative Australia’s decision to cancel Khaled Sabsabi as Australia’s representation at the Venice Biennale 2026.
The Creative Australia Venice Biennale 2026 shitstorm continues to intensify. I watched the live stream of the Senate Estimates hearing where Creative Australia CEO Adrian Collette and Chair Robert Morgan responded to questions from my hotel room in Taipei. While blunderous, the hearing was revealing.
