Google Maps Engine was discontinued – support ended on 29 January 2016 and data was deleted on 1 February.
Google Maps Engine was a tool that allowed users to layer their own content on top of Google Maps. Examples of what it was used for include:
- plotting a retailer's store locations,
- emergency services showing known areas prone to flooding, and
- nonprofits mapping out community services.
The service was discontinued by Google in 2016. While it is not as fully featured, Google My Maps also allows users to create their own custom maps and add their own content to it. If you want a mapping solution that has more features you could also try Google Maps Platform.
