I recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are Australia’s First Peoples and Traditional Custodians of Country. I acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera People as Custodians of Meanjin/Brisbane – the land on which I live, work and play. I acknowledge their continuing connection to land, waters and community, and I acknowledge that sovereignty of that Country was never ceded. I pay respect to their Elders – past and present – and to their emerging leaders. And I extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their communities and their cultures throughout Australia. The Aboriginal flag. The top half of the flag is black.
