Agentry is an an arts marketing micro-consultancy working nationally and based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Agentry supports artists, arts organisations and groups to introduce marketing strategy and optimise their marketing communications efforts – whether IRL, URL or hybrid (in-person, online or both).

A 12-month part-time (0.4 FTE) embedded consultancy developing an arts marketing strategy and mentoring the organisation’s Marketing Coordinator.


Sprung Dance Theatre

May → June 2024

North Coast NSW

Developed and executed a PR campaign with Sprung Dance staff to promote Sprung and the organisation’s request for expressions of interest (EOIs) to join their Ensemble. The PR campaign was accompanied by a content marketing campaign and a cross-promotional campaign.

Queensland Writers Centre (QWC)

Marketing & Communications Manager

Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) exists to support the creative and professional development of writers and to showcase and celebrate the diversity of Queensland writers and stories locally, nationally and internationally.

This role was initially four days per week and increased to full-time in March 2015. I was responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies in support of QWC’s Strategic Plan. This included:

  • Leading the Marketing & Communications team
  • Developing and implementing an annual Marketing Plan, including monitoring progress and evaluating effectiveness
  • Brand management
  • Managing production and release of digital content (websites, electronic direct mail (EDMs), social media channels)
  • Managing production and distribution of promotional materials (flyers, posters, ad artwork, merchandise), including developing briefs for design and printing
  • Production and distribution of media releases and managing relationships with the media and talent
  • Managing a yearly Marketing & Communications budget
  • Developing and implementing procedures to support marketing and communications activities
  • Managing relationships (government agencies, partner organisations, other arts organisation, advertisers, graphic designers, printers and couriers).

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)

Marketing Manager, ABC Radio National & ABC Jazz

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is Australia’s national public broadcaster. ABC Radio National (RN) is the ABC’s largest single radio network, broadcasting award-winning programs on science, books and publishing, religion, social history, the arts, the environment and current affairs.

I was engaged on a fixed-term contract to fill in for the Marketing Manager of ABC RN and ABC Jazz. Responsibilities included:

  • Leading the Marketing team
  • Brand management, including internal and external logo use
  • Managing production and distribution of promotional materials (flyers, ad artwork, merchandise), including developing briefs for design and printing
  • Managing relationships (internal divisions, partner organisations, designers, printers, couriers)
  • Caretaking annual Marketing Plan and budget
  • Reviewing procedures to support marketing activities
  • Auditing the ABC RN Brand Guidelines and developing a transition plan to roll-out a branding amendment
  • Designing a survey of newsletter subscribers and analysing response data
  • Designing and implementing a branding template across RN’s social media channels.

Before being engaged to fill in for the Marketing Manager, I was engaged on a fixed-term contract to fill in for the Marketing Coordinator. Responsibilities included:

  • Shared responsibility for managing RN’s social media channels
  • Managing production and release of digital content (websites, electronic direct mail (EDMs), social media channels).

Australia Council for the Arts

Digital Content Officer

The Australia Council for the Arts is the Australian government’s arts funding and advisory body.

The Digital Content Officer was a new position. The role was created to develop a digital strategy for Council. Responsibilities included:

  • Managing production and release of digital content (websites, electronic direct mail (EDMs), social media channels)
  • Developing and implementing procedures to support digital communications, including a new social media policy, an engagement strategy and a content strategy
  • Developing and implementing procedures to support digital content, including workflow, rolling content review, prefered information architecture, user experience, wireframing and front-end design.
  • Developing and delivering training to staff on the use of digital and social media channels and undertaking one-to-one staff support
  • Managing relationships (internal divisions, graphic designers, web developers and designers, printers, couriers)
  • Public speaking about the use of digital and social media channels in the arts.
